Pre-Valentine Thought

Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, Then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love.”

Neil Gaiman

Strange, though at first read I was shocked to read so much hateful words, but after the initial shock I was impressed at how acurate Neil Gaiman is at describing how he feels. Broken hearted. If I am to put myself in his shoes, I would probably say the same thing. It may offend at first but that's exactly how it felt and that is exactly how it is. Did I just let out a secret? hehe Who, in this wide world hasn't experienced being heart broken?? It maybe of different intensity and reactions may vary but it is the same thing. If i'm heart broken, i'm not expected to be polite too!
The bright part of it is that it passes. Time heals all wound. And then you'll fall in love again... hopefully this time it would work.

Neil Gaiman by the way is the author of alot of books. I have three of his books that I haven't read yet but looking forward to reading. I have the "Good Omen", "American Gods" and "Neverland". According to reviews these book are categorized as humorous. Quite opposite to the sentiments that he has shown above. However, it is not surprising since writers are known to express such a wide array of emotions.

Do not fret. It isn't that bad. :)

Hi JTE

Yes, it is a withered rose. Isn't it more approriate to the quote??

Aren't we so pessimistic? My bad... we should be thinking of good thoughts about love. I'm sorry JTE, i promise to post a happy thought for you soon.

I just can't let Neil Gaimans quote pass me by.
