No Walls, No Ceiling, No Floors

By Orsa Lia

Let me love you
Come close to me
Locked in my arms,
you’ll still be free

Don’t be frightened
my half flying bluebird
Cause my love has no walls
No walls, no ceiling
No walls, no ceiling, no floor

All my love songs are just for you
Sing them with me and when you do

Don’t be frightened my half flying bluebird
Cause my love has no walls
No walls, no ceiling
No walls, no ceiling, no floor

Go on and fly high in the sky
I’ll never try to burn your wings

Let me love you,
come close to me
Locked in my arms,
you’ll still be free

Don’t be frightened my half flying bluebird
Cause my love has no walls
No walls, no ceiling
No walls, no ceiling, no floor

Happy little bluebirds fly over the rainbow, according to Dorothy Gale of The Wizard of Oz. One article suggested that it has come to symbolize hope and happiness for many with its gentle song and manner. It seems perfect that the bluebird in the song can be locked in loving arms and still be free.

I wonder why the bluebird is half flying.. If the bluebird is a metaphor, then this friend of yours is just beginning to learn the way to fly. Which reminds me of a line from a book by Richard Bach - Jonathan Livingston Seagull.. "Look with understanding. Find out what you already know and you will see the way to fly.."

The good thing about metaphor is that anyone can interpret it in any way possible. It doesn't restrict the mind from comparing it to situations that are dear to us.

To explain further why I chose the song, I believe that love in friendship is infinite. Like the metaphor that it is, it’s not confined with physical boundaries nor … time. The singer, which I assume is me, and my friend the half flying bluebird. In my mind, I think of birds in general to have a mate to fly with. My friend is a half flying bluebird. But in spite of that she is loved and that love encourages her to fly high, to find her dream. For where ever she may reach, the love will always be there.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on metaphors.

You have a good day now!

Hi EM!

If I were the bluebird, I'd fly happily with or without mate - most probably without mate, reach for my dreams no matter where it takes me, then at the end of the day, be back to the loving arms that hold me and sing the love songs meant for me.

Metaphors are embellishments. It enhances the meaning of an idea but an excessive use can exaggerate something that is simple and modest.

People who are locked in metaphors are often dreamers and they have a tendency to hide their true feelings behind words they believe can make them safe from the pains of reality

hello moonbeam!!

I'm sorry but you see I did not say that my half flying bluebird is unhappy. I have not attached any emotion on the 'half flying' methapor. The song did mention 'don't be frightened' but that is referring to my love and that she should not be scared of my love restraining her.

Whatever the emotion she has on being single is multiplied (if happy) or divided (if unhappy) by the love of my friendship.

True.. metaphors are embelishments. I have no idea that there are rules on how to use it though. I have assumed that the limit is to whatever your imagination can reach. I'm never good in my english subject anyway.

I love metaphors and I'm also a big time dreamer. We all have our pains. I have mine, my half flying bluebird has hers and i'm sure you have yours. In some degree we hold on to these metaphors to get our sanity in check. I think I should thank God for these metaphors.

Thanks for your thoughts moonbeam! keep it coming!

God created metaphors. Foe me, the world is a better place, if not safer, because of metaphors.

You are always welcome, EM!
