Last time we were in Wonderland, my daughter and I took home caricatures of us drawn by sidewalk artists. This time we know what we wanted to take home. We wanted to try the henna tattoo. So, after spending some time at the waterpark for the the whole morning, we went to one of the sidewalk tattoo parlor. We went through the catalog of designs and picked our own design.
My daughter picked this. They are called power tattoo in ... hmmm...either Chineese or Japanese characters. She picked the "Happiness" power tattoo.
I picked this one. A lot simpler but I trully believe in it. Who can guess?? :)
The tattoo artist said it should last 2 weeks. I think it will be less than that. But it's been fun. Henna is a plant that is grounded to paste and it stains the skin temporarily. It is alot different from permanent tattoos using needles. Henna is the nearest thing we will get as far as tattoos. It's painless, natural and we can always change the design whenever we like it.
Happy WS!

Hi there,
I'm a health reporter for msnbc.com, and I stumbled across your blog while I was researching a story on "henna hazards."
Dermatologists are saying they're increasingly treating people with skin reactions from a harmful chemical in some henna tattoos.
The allergic reaction causes your skin to redden, swell and blister, but only where your henna tattoo is. So, essentially, you're left with a big swirly, flowery BLISTER. In some cases, it's even bad enough to permanently scar or darken the skin!
I'd love to get your take on these freaky skin reactions. Ever experienced any itchiness or redness from a henna tattoo? Or, if not, after knowing this about the potential crazy reaction, would you get a henna tattoo again?
If you're interested, e-mail me at melissa.dahl@msnbc.com and we'll set up a time to chat over the phone.
Thanks so much!

Wow! I didn't expect my post will reach msnbc. Anyway Melissa, it is our first time to have a henna tattoo and i guess the first time will let us know right away if we are allergic to it or not. It's been 4 days now and so far it's been okay. I will post a pic of the tattoo so you can see how it is after 4 days. Since you mentioned that we should exercise caution, then it would be best to ask the ingredients first next time we decide to get another one.
thanks for dropping by!
