Bulaklak, ang ganda ng bulaklak
Ang bango ng bulaklak
Dulot sa 'tin ay galak
Translations:
Flowers, beautiful flowers
Fragrant flowers
they bring us gladness
When one of my relatives went for a vacation back home, I specifically asked for or pleaded in short for a Sampaguita plant to be brought back for me. Sampaguita or what I call Kampupot is our national flower. It trives well in tropical countries and has several varieties. There is single petal, double petal and double double petal. What I have is a double double which is very very pretty. It is sooo fragrant too. Since it is not used to Canadian weather, I can only bring it out during summer. And then when it senses the heat of the sun...it blossoms of little pretty fragrant white flowers.

Pretty nice flower. I have no idea that Sampaguita and Kampupot are one and the same until I saw your post. I'm a stranger in my strange land, I guess.
hehe...me too Jules! Not so sure at first but I know they are kinda related since they smell the same. When i researched about kampupot, I found out that they are variety of each other. .Just like the lilac flower.
It is also the first flower of my sampaguita plant. I hope it flowers more.

Hi lynn!! You should also get some from back home :). it's just so hard to get them to flower when they are far from home. Mine is sooo fragile that i almost thought it will die on me.
hope you have your own Sampaguita at home.
You said it DonG! Sampaguita although small should not be belittled. They carry a big punch of scent too!
I remember making a sampaguita perfume when i was a kid. I was so proud of it.
Hmmm... i remembered the sampaguitas bestfriend...the ylang ylang!!! Oh! I should have that plant too!
thanks walkonred!!
Hi hipncoolmomma!
Sana nga i have enough flower to make a garland but my picky sampaguita plant gives so few flowers. So hanggang tingin at amoy nalang ako!

Hey Jules, I'm also Jules. I also just recently found out that the Sampaguita flower is also known as kampupot. However the picture posted seem to be of a different strain of the same species?
Julz... i'll pass your info to jules. Thanks for dropping by...
